Ai partecipanti è stato chiesto di inviare uno scatto di ciò che avevano di fronte a sé in quel preciso istante. Le immagini sono state accostate in coppia, come se da un occhio fosse visibile la propria realtà circostante, e dall’altro occhio la realtà altrui, altrove.

 

 

Secondo step.
Nasce la app BeReal.
Il suo funzionamento: “Every day at a different time, everyone is notified simultaneously to capture and share a photo in 2 minutes. A new and unique way to discover who your friends really are in their daily life.” Il proposito della app, che vuole differenziarsi dalle altre sul mercato, è la verità dei fatti nella loro immediatezza. “Who your friends really are.”

 

 

 

Terzo step.
More than real.
Nonostante la app richieda ai suoi utenti una foto di sé e dell’ambiente circostante ad un’ora casuale, per sorprenderli nella loro quotidianità, è stato creato l’utente John Doe, i cui scatti e testi sono preparati ad hoc in anticipo. La sua storia è fittizia. Il filo narrativo dei suoi post è la vicenda di qualcuno, tenuto prigioniero, sul quale vengono condotti esperimenti di bioingegneria.

“My work explores the relationship between Pre-raphaelite tenets and life as performance. With influences as diverse as Kierkegaard and Joni Mitchell, new tensions are distilled from both constructed and discovered narratives. Ever since I was a student I have been fascinated by the endless oscillation of the mind. What starts out as vision soon becomes corroded into a tragedy of power, leaving only a sense of chaos and the possibility of a new understanding. As subtle replicas become transformed through studious and personal practice, the viewer is left with a testament to the darkness of our existence.”

“My work explores the relationship between Pre-raphaelite tenets and romance tourism. With influences as diverse as Kierkegaard and Buckminster Fuller, new insights are synthesised from both traditional and modern discourse. Ever since I was a postgraduate I have been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of the moment. What starts out as hope soon becomes manipulated into a hegemony of greed, leaving only a sense of failing and the inevitability of a new beginning. As shimmering replicas become reconfigured through frantic and personal practice, the viewer is left with a testament to the darkness of our culture.”

“Through my work I attempt to examine the phenomenon of Duffy Duck as a methaphorical interpretation of both Warhol and performing. What began as a personal journey of bodyism has translated into images of meat and torso that resonate with italian people to question their own whitweness. My mixed media whiteness embody an idiosyncratic view of noone, yet the familiar imagery allows for a connection between lady gaga, dogs and strawberries. My work is in the private collection of Manzoni who said ‘Yeppa!, that’s some real post-human Art.’ I am a recipient of a grant from Folsom Prison where I served time for stealing mugs and tie clips from the gift shop of The Stedelijk. I have exhibited in group shows at McDonald and Sandretto, though not at the same time. I currently spend my time between my bed and Berlin.”
